About Norwegian Language

Norwegian is a North Germanic language spoken mainly in Norway, where it is the official language. There are also speakers of Norwegian in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the UK, Spain, Canada, and the USA. Norwegian is closely related to Swedish and Danish, and the three languages are generally mutually intelligible.

There are two official written standards for Norwegian: Bokmål and Nynorsk. Bokmål is based on the language spoken in the capital city of Oslo and the surrounding region, and is the more widely used of the two standards. Nynorsk is based on rural Norwegian and is spoken by a smaller number of people.

The Norwegian alphabet has 29 letters and is based on the Latin alphabet. It includes the letters æ, ø, and å, which are not found in the English alphabet. Norwegian pronunciation is relatively straightforward, with a consistent sound-letter correspondence and relatively few silent letters.
